Travelling through Normandy is like travelling through time. From William the conqueror to WWII, the region is incredibly rich in history. Travellers can visit numerous touristic sites including the beautiful Bayeux Cathedral and its tapestry, 18th century chateaux and the American cemetery as well as the stunning landing beaches, which are all just a short drive away from Château la Chenevière.

The region’s architecture is also a major highlight, should clients wish to go sightseeing during their holiday. It’s particularly recommended to go see the breath-taking Mont Saint Michel which can be viewed from above via a private helicopter tour, as the luxury Château la Chenevière has its own helipad. The Norman architecture in the region of the Pays d’Auge is also notorious for having inspired many Impressionist painters in the 19th century.

Normandy is famous for its many delicacies including Camembert and other cheeses like le Pavé d’Auge or Pont l’Évêque, as well as seafood. It’s also known for its many apple orchards which are used to produce cider and Calvados brandy.

The luxury Château la Chenevière is perfectly located between Bayeux and the landing beaches, right in the centre of Normandy – making it the ideal destination to visit all the main sights.

A gourmet getaway in a luxury hotel near Caen, in Normandy

The luxury hotel is also known to have some of the best restaurants in Normandy and is a real culinary destination. Restaurant bistro Le Petit Jardin is open for lunch and dinner and is located in the chateau’s old conservatory by the pool. It offers casual French cuisine with fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits from the luxury hotel’s own vegetable garden. A barbecue is served every Sunday for lunch during the summer months.

The second fine-dining restaurant, Le Botaniste, is located inside the chateau on the ground floor. The interior pays tribute to nature with its natural pastel colours and floral fabrics on the chairs and curtains, golden foliage wall lamps and dried flower bouquets from the chateau’s garden. The floor to ceiling windows around the restaurant offer a panoramic view on the garden’s centennial trees. The restaurant is only open for dinner and serves a seasonal menu with fresh ingredients supplied by Normandy’s best producers, all carefully selected by the Head Chef. The exquisite food can be paired with the many wines from the chateau’s cellar. The sommelier can either suggest a bottle or a wine pairing by the glass. Le Botaniste’s bar offers refreshing and creative cocktails with herbs from the garden, which can be enjoyed on the hotel’s terrace during the warmer evenings.

Breakfast is served as a buffet in the Botaniste restaurant. Guests can indulge in some local pastries and breads, homemade jams and honey from the luxury chateau’s beehives.
