It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it sets the mood!

Beatrice Hubert, our breakfast manager for many years, knows this very well and does everything she can to ensure that our customers start their day in excellent conditions.

Breakfast in Bayeux: local flavors in the spotlight

Breakfast is served every day from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Le Botaniste restaurant which is located on the ground floor of the castle.
This is a buffet priced at €32 per person. This complete buffet includes breads and pastries delivered fresh every morning by our artisan baker in Bayeux, the Fournil de Saint Loup.

She prepares a beautiful selection of breads: Baguette, brioches, rye bread, country and even gluten-free bread. As for the pastries, they include the great French classics such as the croissant and pain au chocolat but also lesser-known local specialties such as le brasillé and la fallue.

Artisanal jams from La Fontaine à Confiture à Garnetot, Norman butter and honey from our own hives are available on the buffet.

On top of organic cereals with different milks, farmed yoghurts and fresh or dried fruits, we also offer crêpes to the great pleasure of children. We also serve a creamy carrot cake by our Pastry Chef Simon Beauruelle.

On the savory buffet, our customers can taste goat's cheeses from our cheese maker La Boite à Fromage in Orbois, local charcuterie and smoked salmon, as well as a hot buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon and seasonal vegetables.

Hot drinks are included, like coffees, espresso, lattes, teas from Mariage Frères and a delicious hot chocolate, for a gentle wake-up. It is a succulent mixture of Manjari chocolate, Valrhona milk chocolate, liquid cream and milk from Monsieur Gosset, our dairy farmer.

The orange juice is freshly squeezed at the buffet either by our customers or with the help of our team, and we also offer apple juice from Vergers de Ducy in Ducy-Ste-Marguerite.

We also offer for an additional cost an egg-menu with fried, boiled and poached eggs. Benedictine or Florentine, Norwegian style with smoked salmon, a French omelette with ham and cheese or vegetarian with green and red peppers.

Champagne is also available at an additional cost, for a mimosa or simply a small glass.

Continental breakfast can be served in your room from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Beatrice also offers takeaway breakfast boxes for €48 including our organic homemade infusion made of mint, rose, savory, clary sage and nettle; a bottle of apple verbena or geranium juice from Cidricchus in Isigny-sur-Mer, a pot of honey from our hives, two pots of jam from Cake Lucky in Bayeux and two portions of the famous carrot cake. These baskets make great gifts!
